REIMAGINATION IN PROGRESS
REIMAGINATION IN PROGRESS
We welcome you while we reimagine and renew...
Sonoma Coast Villa Resort & Spa sits on a 60-acre resort in a quiet valley five miles east of dramatic Bodega Bay in the Russian River Valley area of Sonoma County. Originally opened as a horse and gun club for the owners of the Blue Boar restaurant in San Francisco in the 1970s, they converted it into a vacation retreat in 1982, with the idea of getting closer to fresh ingredients from the local agricultural area. That spirit lives on today in the timeless Tuscan-stye property with its limestone fireplaces and vaulted ceilings among acres of rolling hills. Eighteen villas in five homes can be booked, including one private four-bedroom, 3,000-square-foot house.
Auric Road purchased the resort in 2019 and has embarked on a plan to reimagine this beautiful property, including expanding up to 30 rooms and converting to vineyards and organic farms. It will remain open during its reconceptualization, so guests can enjoy the spa, restaurant, rooms, and nearby attractions like Sonoma Coast State Beach, Bodega Marine Library, Sonoma wine country and more. Our ideal day includes slipping out of bed and heading to the dunes to catch some fresh crab and taking a midday picnic by horseback through local mustard grasses to the nearby giant redwoods. We'd end the evening fireside with a charcuterie plate assembled with local cheeses, and plan tomorrow's fun: fresh-caught oysters barbecued beachside, a custom Russian River wine tour, or even a little grape stomping.
